Virtual flight through flight sim (flight simulation) is designed to give a realistic flying sensation. It can be achieved in mocked-up cockpits, or on a computer by a computer game, provided it is well-written.

Flight sim takes you into a flying experience, where you can manipulate aircrafts of different kinds, from Boeings to fighter jets. From novices to veteran pilots, the experience is equally enjoyable and challenging, as you navigate and fly around the world.

What's a Flight Simulator?

In the context of computer games a flight simulator i's a software program that allows the user to simulate flying an actual aircraft. So it has to be realistic. The user has to feel as though he is actually in the aircraft and flying it.

A "real" flight simulator is the sort that is used for training pilots, in civil and military settings. Obviously, as this is for real, the technology has to be cutting-edge, as far as possilbe, and the physical setting is also entirely realistic. Here "flight simulator" is often used to refer to the room where the simulation is run.

In the computer gaming world, flight simulator games try to achieve the similitude of a real simulator.

The user is of course only in front of his computer, and the controls are not as realistic, but the experience is pretty intense overall.

And the programs get better all the time.
